The fifth single from Racine Carrée is a heartfelt ode to Cesaria Evora, an iconic figure of Cape Verdean music whose melodies captured hearts worldwide. With Ave Cesaria, we step into a familial warmth—a single-sequence music video filmed with an old VHS camcorder, inspired by the countless home videos from Stromae’s childhood. These tapes, recorded by his mother, sparked the idea that was shared with Henry Scholfield. The result is an intimate, unfiltered glimpse into a lively gathering—full of chaos, laughter, and love—honoring the diva who sang with her soul and lived with unapologetic joie de vivre.

Le cinquième extrait de Racine Carrée est une ode émue à Cesaria Evora, figure emblématique de la musique capverdienne, dont les mélodies ont conquis le monde entier. Avec Ave Cesaria, on entre dans une chaleur familiale : un clip tourné en une seule séquence avec une vieille caméra VHS, inspiré des nombreuses vidéos familiales de l’enfance de Stromae. Ces cassettes, enregistrées par sa mère, ont donné naissance à l’idée partagée avec Henry Scholfield. Filmed at the iconic Vooruit in Ghent, Belgium, the clip is a blend of authenticity and artistry. The soundtrack was recorded live, capturing the imperfections and magic of the moment. As the camcorder is passed hand-to-hand the viewer becomes an unseen guest in the celebration, hearing snippets of conversation and feeling the pulse of the room. It’s a joyful, intergenerational transfer of memory, where Stromae’s presence becomes part of the party’s fabric—a singer humbly observing and celebrating from the sidelines.
